Candle Care
Follow these simple tips to help your candle burn beautifully, evenly and safely.
Before lighting
Trim the wick to around 5 mm before each use. This helps create a steadier flame, reduces soot and prevents the wick from becoming too long.
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, flammable items, children and pets.
Your first burn
The first burn is important. Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the container before extinguishing the candle. This helps prevent tunnelling and encourages a more even burn in the future.
Depending on the size of your candle, this can take a few hours. Do not burn it for longer than the maximum time stated on the candle label.
While burning
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep the candle away from curtains, furniture and other flammable items.
- Do not place candles near an open window, fan or air conditioning.
- Keep the wax pool free from wick trimmings and other debris.
- Do not move the candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid.
- Burn for a maximum of 4 hours at a time, unless the product label says otherwise.
Extinguishing your candle
Gently snuff out the flame where possible rather than blowing it out. Allow the wax and container to cool completely before moving or relighting the candle.
Never use water to extinguish a candle.
When to stop burning
Stop using your candle when around 1 cm of wax remains at the bottom of the container. Burning it beyond this point may cause the container to overheat.
Important safety information
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children and pets. Always follow the safety instructions on the candle label, as these take priority over general guidance.
With the right care, your candle will burn more evenly and help you enjoy every last moment of its fragrance.
